Sea Salt Chocolate Chunk Cookies
I love a good twist on a classic recipe. These sea salt chocolate chunk cookies are a winner recipe with the combination of sea salt and chocolate. Once you see the cookies turning brown around the edges they are done baking. The worst thing you can do is over-bake these cookies. The crisp edge with gooey center is what really makes these cookies delicious. Sprinkle the top with some sea salt (Maldon is my favorite) as soon as they come out of the oven. Also, you could use chocolate chips in this recipe if you don’t have chocolate chunks on hand.
Sea Salt Chocolate Chunk Cookies

- 1 1/4 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1 Egg at room temperature
- 1 1/2 cups All Purpose Flour
- 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
- 1/4 tsp Baking Powder
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 1 cup Chocolate Chunks
- Maldon Salt for top of cookies
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with a silpat. I love using this to make sure the cookies don't stick.
- In a medium sized bowl mix together the dry ingredients – flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl cream together the softened butter, sugar and light brown sugar
- Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixutre and blend until mixed.
- Add the dry ingredients (a little at a time) and mix with a spoon.
- Add the chocolate chunks and mix to combine.
- Use a cookie scoop to scoop the dough on the silpat lined baking sheet. Bake them for 7-9 minutes or until the edges are slightly brown. Don't overbake them!
- As soon as you take the cookies out of the oven sprinkle some Maldon salt on top. Let them sit on the pan for a couple of minutes before transferring them to a drying rack.
