Protein Bagels

I can’t take credit for this recipe (it is from skinnytaste) but it is one we now LOVE in our house.

These bagels are a great way to start your morning, end your day or even enjoy a mid-day snack. They are protein packed and lower in calories then a store bought bagel.

We love bagels in our house whether it is for a breakfast sandwich or with lox and cream cheese. The only problem, is that sometimes bagels can be heavy, calorie dense, and high sugar. Yet these bagels help eliminate some of the negative sides of bagels while maintaining taste!

If you aren’t into everything spice you can choose to flavour the bagels however you want! Try poppyseeds, sesame seeds, blueberries or even try using whole wheat flour! If you want everything bagel seasoning you can find it on Amazon  or make your own (all it is a couple spices mixed together – there are tons of recipes out there).

We stored these bagels in the fridge to keep their shelf life longer, but you can keep them on the counter for 3-4 days too if you don’t have space.

And now…the recipe.

1c flour, white or whole wheat

2tsp baking soda

3/4tsp salt

1c greek yogurt (we have used fat free and fat full)

1 egg, beaten

4tbsp everything seasoning (or whatever seasoning you choose) (1tbsp/bagel)

How to make:
Preheat oven to 375˚F Combine all dry ingredients (first 3 ingredients) together using a whisk Add yogurt until the batter forms a crumbly mess Divide into 4 balls, roll into long logs and then loop around to make a doughnut (or bagel!) shape  Dip each bagel in your seasoning* Bake for 25mins in the oven Remove bagels from oven and let cool on a drying rack for 15mins
Enjoy!

*if you want to make blueberry bagels mix them into the batter at step 3
